Clinics and Camps

This page is dedicated to our Spring and Summer Camps and Clinics that are held at the Rink at Old York Road. Below is a short description of the Hockey and Skating programs that we offer during the 2008 Spring and Summer Seasons. As always space is limited so register soon. Also if you have any questions, please contact the Rink office. Copy of the program flyers are located by the camp or clinic description.

Competitors Edge Clinic
Coach Justin Adamski has been with the Raiders program for many years, both as player and coach. Coach Adamski’s Competitors Edge Clinic is designed to improve the individual skill set of participating players with an emphasis on skating acceleration, skating strength and on-ice agility. Progression drills and quality repetitions are the key to developing stronger techniques. This will give the PeeWee age and up players an “in season” competitive edge on the competition.

Clinic Focus:

  • Explosive Starts
  • Acceleration - Changing gears
  • Stride Corrections
  • Edge Work - Strength and Balance

Players will learn proper techniques and be corrected out of bad habits. Stick work exercises will include: Positioning, Quick Stick, Strength, Touch and Shooting

Hockey Clinic
The Rink at Old York Road along with Chestnut Hill Academy is proud to announce their March/April Hockey Clinics. These clinics are listed below but will be separate for each level. Each of these clinics will be led by the CHA coaching staff at that particular age level.

These clinics will focus on several parts of hockey, including stickhandling, passing, shooting and skating. Additionally, this is a great opportunity for your child to get to stay on the ice in a fun and educational environment. Below is a list of the clinic levels and the dates and times.

Clinic Focus:

  • Stickhandling, Passing, Shooting and Skating
  • Introduction to intermediate and advanced hockey concepts
  • Players will participate in Game Situation Drills

Players will be expected to participate in the clinic with Full Equipment.
Each clinic is limited to the first 30 players that register.
Players are encouraged to bring their own water bottle.

Goaltending Clinic
The Goaltending Clinic was created to meet the demand for exceptional goaltending instruction. Rink’s Goaltending Coach Justin Adamski has put together a rigorous program to help the goalies develop in the following key areas. Experienced shooters wanted.

Goaltending Clinic Focus:

  • Proper Stance and Body Position
  • Skating and Conditioning
  • Glove and Stick Work
  • Rebound and Deflections

This Clinic is limited to the first 10 goalies that register.

Complete Player Camp
The Complete Player Camp are designed to enhance the skills a player needs to participate in hockey today at ALL levels! The Rink at Old York Road’s Hockey Director Chalie Sgrillo will supervise his high temp, fast pace, FUN conditioning skill development clinics. Lunch is NOT provided for the campers. The Complete Player Camp is geared for the Intermediate and Advanced players:

  • Shooting & Scoring Techniques
  • Offensive & Defensive Tactics
  • Off Ice Plyometric & Strength Training
  • Goaltender Instruction Daily!
  • Campers should have a change of
    clothes and a towel everyday
Players will be expected to participate in the camp with FULL EQUIPMENT.
Camp is limited to the first 40 players that register!

Raiders Camp
The 2008 Old York Road Raiders Camp is a way for all registered Raiders to get ready for the 2008-09 season. The Raiders Camp will be the players’ chance to not only work on their skills development, but also to work on the Raiders’ systems. Lunch will be provided for this camp. The on ice program for the Raiders Camp will be run by members of the Raiders of the coaching staff, including Chalie Sgrillo, Chris Seamens, and Phil Pulley. Open to all Participants!

  • Passing & Shooting Strength
  • Positional Play
  • Lunch is included in the Price!

Players will be expected to participate in the camp with FULL EQUIPMENT.
